CZ DUTY 4.0 C

About this product
Across the DMV, a lot of handgun shoppers want the same three things: a 9mm that takes a red dot, a trigger that does not need work, and a size that fits both the nightstand and a holster. CZ's new DUTY 4.0 answers all three. It is a striker-fired 9x19mm built on a serialized internal chassis, which means the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is a modular part rather than the registered gun. The slide is cut for direct-mount optics, and CZ shows it wearing Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots.
Pick the C compact for carry: 15+1 rounds standard, 17+1 with the extended base plate, 770 g and 135 mm tall. Pick the F full-size for the range or home: 17+1 standard, 19+1 extended, 780 g. Both run a 4-inch unthreaded barrel, fixed sights and a refined SFDA trigger rated at about 5.6 lbs. Add MS to the model name and you get a manual thumb safety on top of the three internal safeties. CZ's suggested retail is $729.
Pick the C when the gun has to disappear under a cover garment. It gives up two rounds to the full-frame model (15+1 against 17+1) and about 8 mm of grip height, and in return it is 135 mm (5.3 in) tall and 770 g (27.2 oz) light.
This version has no external safety lever. It relies on three automatic safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety, and the trigger is the same as on the MS model. Shooters who prefer a lever should pick the MS.
Three things define the DUTY 4.0. First, a serial-numbered modular chassis: the serial-numbered part is inside, the grip frame around it is modular. Second, the trigger, a striker SFDA rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs), 4 mm (0.16 in) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel, which is short and repeatable for a service pistol. Third, a direct-mount optics-ready slide, shown by CZ with Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted, so a red dot sits low without a stack of plates.
The CZ DUTY 4.0 C suits anyone who wants a modern optics-ready 9mm with CZ's grip and a trigger that is better than the class average: concealed carry where your state allows it, home defense, and range time that does not need a full-frame grip.
Handguns ordered here ship to the FFL dealer you choose, whether that dealer is in the District, Maryland, Virginia or anywhere else in the country. The dealer handles the transfer paperwork and applies the rules of the state or district where you pick it up. We do not interpret those rules for you; your dealer does that at the counter. Enter your dealer's details at checkout so the pistol goes to the right place.

Frequently asked questions
- Should I pick the C or the F for carry around the DMV?
- The C compact is 135 mm tall and 770 g with 15+1 rounds, which makes it the easier one to carry. The F full-size adds 8 mm of height and two rounds.
- Does the DUTY 4.0 come with a red dot?
- CZ lists it as optics-ready with fixed sights, so plan on buying the dot separately. The slide is milled for direct mounting, and CZ has shown Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield units on it.
- Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines?
- CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
- Is the compact easy to shoot?
- It shares the 4-inch barrel and slide with the full-size gun, so the sight radius is the same. Only the grip is shorter.
